What Locker does

Locker runs your phone like a school day, so you can save your screen time for when you actually want it.

  • Class, Recess, and Free Period on a timetable you set once
  • A daily recess allowance, with unspent minutes banked at midnight
  • A few hall passes a month for when life won't wait
  • Field trips that pause the timetable while you travel
  • A Backpack for the apps you always keep
  • Locker Combo, a free daily puzzle that never touches your balance
  • Widgets and a Live Activity countdown
  • No account. No servers. Nothing leaves your phone.

Common questions

How do I get started?

Open Locker and walk through the short setup. You'll grant Screen Time access, set your timetable, pick your daily recess allowance, and pack your Backpack with the apps you always want. After that, the bell does the rest.

Why does Locker need Screen Time access?

Locker uses Apple's Family Controls framework (the same system behind iOS Screen Time) to put apps in your locker on your own device, for yourself. It isn't a parental-control or device-management tool. iOS only ever hands the app opaque tokens, so Locker can't read which apps you picked or see how you use them.

What are Class, Recess, and Free Period?

Class is the default: distracting apps are in your locker, and only your Backpack is out. Recess is when you spend minutes from your balance to open the locker. Free Period has no limits at all. Your timetable decides which one you're in, so you don't have to.

How does my balance work? What's banking?

Every day you get a recess allowance. Spend it on Recess whenever you like. End a recess early and the unused minutes go straight back. Whatever you haven't spent by midnight banks into your savings, so a quiet Tuesday pays for a lazy Saturday.

What are hall passes?

You get a few hall passes each month. A hall pass lets you spend balance during Class, for the moments when real life won't wait for the bell. They're deliberately scarce. That's the whole point.

What's a field trip?

Going somewhere? Set a field trip for your travel dates and Locker pauses the timetable while you're away. You can keep extra apps handy for the road, like the ones you use for getting around. When the trip ends, school's back in session.

What goes in my Backpack?

The apps you always keep, no matter what period it is. Think calling, messages, maps, your calendar, your bank. Locker won't let you save an empty Backpack, because nobody should get locked out of everything. You can repack it any time from the Locker tab.

What is Locker Combo?

A daily puzzle: crack the combination to the lock. There's a new one every day, it's free, and playing it never costs a single minute of your balance. You'll find it on the Bank tab.

How do the widgets and Live Activity work?

Add a Locker widget to see your balance and the current period at a glance. When a recess starts, a Live Activity counts down on your Lock Screen (and in the Dynamic Island on supported iPhones) so you know exactly when the bell rings. Both read data that's already on your phone.

Is my data safe?

There's nothing to leak. Locker has no account, no servers, no analytics, and no network connection. Your timetable, balance, savings, Backpack, settings, and Locker Combo progress live only on your iPhone. Notifications are scheduled locally too.
